About me

I was hooked on
photography at a very early age. After
about 15 years experimenting with many different cameras (both 35mm and medium
format) I bought my first Nikon SLR (a black FE) in June 1983.
On that day in June, I found that Nikon
cameras were a perfect fit for my hands. That was not something I found with
Canon SLRs at the time; or even more recently when I’ve used my friend’s
full frame Canon DSLR.
My wife and I left
London in 1994 for a new life on the wonderful Greek island, Crete
We built our own house and in the
surrounding land we grow a large variety of organic produce including:
artichokes, asparagus, aubergines, avocadoes, beans, courgettes, lemons,
nectarines, oranges, peppers, tangerines, tomatoes…and this year we have our
first crop of bananas ripening too!
In august every year
we produce around 350 litres of organic red wine. Last winter the crop from our small olive grove produced 50
litres of extra virgin olive oil.
We are fortunate to
share our lives with Anglos the donkey, two dogs, 10 cats and a rather overly
protective cockerel and his five hen harem; they produce fantastically tasty
eggs, many people say they are the best they have ever tasted.

the one on the right
I guess you could say
our lives are a bit like Tom and Barbara in the 1970s TV series The
Good Life but they didn’t have a recording studio in the basement...
Music has always been
another passion of mine. I like to
tickle the ivories and have made and sold a
few of my own CDs but my first love is really the technical aspects of
recording, engineering and production. I’ve
been fortunate to work with some very talented artists at the studio and, for
me, there is nothing to beat those magic moments when the hairs on the back of
the arms rise to acknowledge an outstanding performance captured to ‘tape’. The studio website
isn’t just about recording; it has over 40 pages on a diverse range of
subjects: www.kymatasound.com
